DEATH TO WEIGHT LOSS MYTHS!!!

Updated: Jun 25, 2019

I know everyone is tired of all the lies and misinformation going around in the diet an weight loss world. I know I am, so I have comprised a list of the top 10 weight-loss myths to help you make smarter decisions and meet your goals.

1. You can turn fat into muscle.

Many health and fitness magazines and other dietary supplement companies like to make outrageous claims that they hold the secret to turning fat into muscle. Muscle and Fat are completely different. Not only are they two different types of tissue, they are made up of different types of cells. Muscle is active tissue that burns calories around the clock even as you sleep and body fat is not particularly useful except as padding to protect you and insulation to preserve warmth. It’s absolutely impossible to turn fat into muscle. This also applies the other way around; muscles do not convert into fat the day you stop working out. You can however, with diet and exercise, reduce your fat and increase your muscle.

2. Low-fat labeled foods are a healthier alternative.

With this you have to be careful. Companies only have to slightly lower the fat to just under what's listed on the regular product to be able to use the low-fat label. So that means some things are really not that low-fat at all. It should be labeled; slightly-lowered-fat. Also, if a product is marked "low-fat" it doesn't always mean it is a safe alternative. Some of these can contain insanely large amounts of sugar. Always, ALWAYS read nutrition info. Look for added sugars, corn syrup and artificial sugars(see below).

3. Sugar Substitute is a safe alternative to Sugar.

This is my favorite myth. Not all sugar substitutes are safe. Aspartame, one of the main sugar substitutes used in soda as well as many other "sugar free" products, has some serious side-effects.

This is actually my herb box. Stevia Leaf in the middle, Rosemary on the right and sage on the left.

Some studies have shown that it causes cancer in rats and can have ugly side effects such as headaches, digestive issues, dizziness, changes in mood and seizures. Regular sugar is now thought to be safer, but is not exactly the best choice. Stevia has been tested and proved to be the healthiest alternative to sugar. It is derived from the Stevia Rebaudiana plant, and has zero calories. I love this stuff. I actually grow it. 4. Eating Healthier is Expensive

It might appear to you that foods that are better for you are more costly than unhealthier choices. In any case, if you find healthier alternatives to certain ingredients in unhealthier food you'll find your dinners will work out costing less.

For instance, picking less expensive cuts of meat and blending it with less expensive choices like, beans, beats and frozen vegetables can help stretch it in goulashes or stir-fry.

5. You have to go hard to lose weight.

You don’t have to live at the gym to achieve results. Other exercises such as walking, jogging, cycling, and yoga can really burn some calories. As long as you avoid sitting on the couch all day, be more active and follow a good nutrition plan, you will lose weight.

That said, combining aerobics with resistance training is one of the best approaches to weight loss, and good health. For a great workout program that I use myself click here.

6. Diet sodas are better for you than regular.

Diet sodas can fool you into thinking that they are the lesser of the two evils. Diet soda consumption has been linked to increased risk of metabolic syndrome, which can increase the chances of weight gain, and heart disease. Most diet sodas also contain aspartame which I covered in Myth#3.

7. A good way to lose weight is by skipping meals.

This is the opposite of what works. To shed pounds and keep it off, you need to lessen the measure of calories you expend and increase what you consume through working out. Skipping any meal of the day can result in sluggishness and fatigue and you may not receive basic nutrients. Also the chances of you snacking on something high in calories, fat or sugar throughout the day are greater.

8. Sweat it off.

Practicing therapies such as sauna sessions will not make you sweat your fat out.

Dry sauna therapy has health benefits including detox, and increased circulation. However, the only weight you will lose is your body's water weight because your sweat is made out of water, and electrolytes. Water wight is usually gained back.

9. Eating before bed makes you gain weight.

How many times have you went to bed hungry because you’ve been told that it’s better to not eat anything after your dinner? New evidence shows us we don't have to do that any more. The key is not to avoid eating but to eat a healthy snack if your hungry. In 2015 a group of nutrition specialists published an article stating that eating something less than 150 calories at night is okay. It also stated that a snack may also be beneficial for protein synthesis, and cardiovascular health. You are already fasting while you sleep. If you skip dinner the night before, you could end up eating more the next day than you normally would. If you eat something like pizza at night not only is that an unhealthy choice, but you risk weight gain. Instead eat a small but filling snack like peanut butter toast, a piece of fruit or yogurt.

10. All weight loss pills are safe and effective to use for weight reduction.

Not all thinning tablets are successful or safe to use to get in shape. There are various recommended medications accessible from your General Practitioner for weight reduction. There are likewise other un-endorsed, unlicensed weight reduction items available which may contain fixings that are harmful to your well being.

In the event that you are worried about your weight, it is always best to consult your Doctor or another medical professional. Budi Health and Wellness has also done some research and found that this product in the link below has the most effective yet completely harmless ingredient. Sometimes it can be difficult to weed through all the misinformation and find what works for you. All that matters is that you stick with it. You can do this, set goals, build strong foundations and become your best you!
